A Night in That Land

It has been just shy of a decade since the Inveraray & District Pipe Band took to the stage to perform their critically acclaimed Ascension concert at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. What they have gone on to accomplish since then has served as a catalyst for the inspiration and creation of A Night in That Land.

In 2014 they established themselves as one of the top Grade 1 bands by claiming their first major win at the European Championships held in Forres. Not content to rest on their laurels they have gone on to win 13 majors to date alongside multiple drumming championships. In 2017, after claiming second the previous three years, they achieved their ultimate goal, and the pinnacle of pipe band success by being crowned World Champions. A momentous occasion and one which solidified their place in the history books. They repeated this feat again in 2019 whilst also securing a fourth straight Champion of Champions title in the process.

IDPB’s creative and innovative approach to the music over the years has played a significant role in establishing their identity and brought them back to the concert stage this evening. Following their record breaking sell-out of the event in 2020, pipe band music was forced into short supply. After resuming practices in 2022 their debut of the concert became one of the most anticipated to date. With new and innovative arrangements combined with numerous IDPB classics, supported by a stellar cast of backing musicians and guest artists, it is easy to hear why A Night in That Land has also gone down as one of the best “Pre-World” showcases to date.
