- Carefully-researched background information about tune origins (and/or tune composers), is offered for nearly every tune.
- Every printed tune also includes basic key information as well as chord symbols to guide those newer to accompanying pipe tunes.
- Harmony parts have been added for 12 tunes (11 of them being recently composed).
- A majority of tunes are set in a way that favors the particular strengths of Scottish-style pipes, in particular the Scottish smallpipes, as well as the manner in which tunes might better thrive in a session setting.
